Bad Grampa (2013)

run time: 92 mins
rated: R
considered: Comedy
starring: Johnny Knoxville, Jackson Nicoll

movie summary: 86-year-old Irving Zisman is on a journey across America with the most unlikely companion: his 8 year-old grandson, Billy. (

my thoughts: I need to be honest with everyone who reads this post, I never liked or watched Jackass the show or movies. The trailer to this movie made it seem so funny, but at the end of the day, this was a horrible movie. I apologize for a bias review, but this was a movie I regret seeing.

People are going to flock to the theatre to see this movie because it’s Johnny Knoxville dressed up as an old man named Irving Zisman. His wife dies at the beginning of the movie, his daughter is going to prison for drug dealing, and he’s now responsible for driving his grandson Billy (Jackson Nicoll) to Raleigh, North Carolina.

This movie follows the pair as they pull pranks with hidden cameras on unsuspecting people in Nebraska, Missouri, Tennessee, and North Carolina. If you have watched the trailer, you have seen 90% of all the funny skits in the movie. There are only a handful of not so funny skits in the movie.

People who love this type of humour will get their money’s worth, other people will leave shaking their head in disappointment. I watched it with five good friends and we all agreed it is very stupid and not a good movie. There were a few spots that will make anyone laugh out loud, but these skits are all random and pointless. The producers just took them and edited them together to make a movie with a road trip plot.

I will be hated for my review of this movie, but the great joy of watching movies is everyone is critic and we are all entitled to like or dislike whatever we want.

my star rating: 1 out 10
