2 Guns (2013)

run time: 109 mins
rated: 14A
considered: Action, Comedy, Crime
starring: Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Bill Paxton, Fred Ward, Paula Patton

movie summary: A DEA agent and a naval intelligence officer find themselves on the run after a botched attempt to infiltrate a drug cartel. While fleeing, they learn the secret of their shaky alliance: Neither knew that the other was an undercover agent. (www.imdb.com)

my thoughts: 2 Guns features amazing chemistry between Denzel Washington (Bobby) and Mark Whalberg (Stig) that make up for its lackluster plot. Best friends on the prowl to rob a bank, you get to see how humourous they are together as they plan and stake out their targets. Whalberg is his famous foul mouth self, while Washington is more grounded and down to earth. After pulling off the heist, the duo end up with 43 million. Things turn sour quickly because each has orders to bring the other one in. A CIA drug lord named Earl (Bill Paxton) is on the hunt for the money that was stolen and will kill anyone who doesn’t bring him the two bank robbers. After their respective agencies dump them, Bobby and Stig must form an alliance to save each other lives and figure out why they were double crossed.

There is a lot of gun fire and bullets in this one, but don’t go into it expecting a two-hour shoot out. There are many slow parts but the action scenes and comedy is worth checking it out.

my star rating: 6 out 10
