my thoughts: Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the start of the fourth book in the Twilight Series. The book covers a lot of story line in its pages, which allowed Hollywood to drag it out into four hours of movie time.
The beginning of the film features the much-anticipated wedding between Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson). The wedding itself was very beautiful, romantic, and elegant. It featured all of their high school friends, Edward’s vampire relatives, and Bella’s parents. Jacob (Taylor Launter) crashes the wedding party with some of his wolf friends, which causes some tense moments for everyone.
After the party, Bella and Edward escape on their honeymoon to Rio de Janeiro and then Esme Island out in the Pacific Ocean. All alone on the island, the newly married couple finally have sex. Edward harms her during the first time and spends the rest of the honeymoon avoiding intimacy again. Bella tries everything to seduce him and finally wins.
The next morning Bella wakes up and is pregnant. (Crazy, but true) The pair rush back to Forks so Edwards dad Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) can assess the situation. Through some research, it is determined that Bella is carrying a baby that is slowly killing her every day, and if she tries to give birth will die. Jacob finds out the pair are back and bursts into the Cullen house to see Bella. He can’t believe what has happened and tries to reason with her to give up the baby.
Jacob’s wolf pack finds out Bella is carrying a baby that could wipe out the whole town. The pack plan their attack to kill the baby and the Cullens at their house. Jacob has to take a stand against his brothers and protect the one person he loves.
Bella goes into labour and gives birth to a baby girl named Renesmee. Edward tries his best to turn her at the last moment but he may have been too late as Bella dies.
Breaking Dawn Part 1 was very anticipated because it featured the couple’s wedding and them finally having sex. There are many slow parts during the honey moon and Bella’s pregnancy, but this whole part of the Twilight story is dragged out to fill screen time. Bella’s transformation from being a healthy women to morbidly unhealthy and dying was very good special effects. The baby’s rapid growth is purely unbelievable, but so are vampires and werewolves. This film is a great build up to the finale, Breaking Dawn Part 2, because Bella gives birth to a daughter, then dies, which leaves Edward and Jacob to form a bond to protect the family.
my star rating: 8 out 10 (only because the wedding is beautiful)
