run time: 105 mins
rated: PG
considered: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi
starring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols

movie summary: Admiral Kirk and his bridge crew risk their careers stealing the decommissioned Enterprise to return to the restricted Genesis planet to recover Spock’s body. (

my thoughts: Star Trek III the Search for Spock despite its unrealistic plot was a very good movie.  Part III is a continuation of the events of Star Trek II where Spock (Leonard Nimoy) dies to save the Enterprise and it’s crew. His body is sent back to a Genesis planet where he is reborn and has to survive the wilderness in order to be rescued. Only problem is, Admiral James T. Kirk is having issues with Starfleet Command over the previous events and loses command of the Enterprise. One of the best sequences of the whole movie franchise is when Kirk, Doctor Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley) and Chief Engineer Scotty (James Doohan) pull off a hilarious plan to steal the Enterprise and go search for Spock. True to Star Trek form, the crew and ship are attacked, which result in the Enterprise going down in a fireball. The crew manage to beam down to a planet to watch the ship fade off into the distance leaving behind a trail of smoke. It was a nice send off for one of the biggest pieces of the Star Trek story. Kirk’s son David, plays another key part in this story but dies in the end. It is comical that David dies in this movie, because he was just a quick side story away from any real plot lines. The crew end up finding Spock, who has no memory of his Starfleet friends, but together the group will have a chance to relive the memories they’ve shared and wait for their next big adventure.

my star rating: 6 out 10
