Vacation (2015)

What did I like?

Vacation had me laughing from the beginning until the very end, including the pictures during the end credits. There was a lot of racism, sexual references, and flat-out silliness.

What didn’t I like?

I can’t remember the last Vacation movie and that means that it was probably not even needed…much like this one.

Was Vacation a good story?

A family embarks on a cross-country road trip to visit a national theme park. Sounds lame like the majority of road trip movies right? The only exception to every one of those stories is the epic misadventures they can get into. Vacation was a pretty stupid story and the only thing that saves it from being a zero is the jokes. Those jokes are only thing that gets us from scene to scene and to the ending.

Notable Performances?

I would actually love to see the outtakes of this movie because I want to see how many times it took Chris Hemsworth to do his scenes with a straight face. Realistically anyone in this movie would have been interchangeable and the same jokes could have been pulled off. I’ve never been a huge fan of Ed Helms but he manages to hold his own as the head of the Griswold family.

Would I recommend it?

No I wouldn’t recommend catching Vacation in the theatres at full price. This would be a movie worth watching on a cheap day or in the comforts of your home as a rental for a couple of bucks.

  1. Sounds like you rated it as a pretty bad movie, but you still laughed a good deal if I’m reading the what did I like part correctly. I laughed out loud at this, but just as equally didn’t laugh. The humor is dumb but from the RT I expected this to be worse. Comedy is subjective though.
