americanultraWhat did I like?

There’s no denying or sugar-coating the truth, I went to see American Ultra for one reason and one reason only; my crush on Kristen Stewart. She has amazing chemistry with Jesse Eisenberg which really makes this movie click. I’ve never been a huge fan of Topher Grace but admire his over the top power-hungry character who is just such a dickhead.

What didn’t I like?

Many of you would be surprise that this movie is only 1:32 long which doesn’t allow for a whole lot of action and character development. The majority of the story is so off the charts unrealistic that it is laughable just thinking back to it. The ending is a huge let down considering all the gory violence leading up to it.

Was American Ultra a good story?

I got to say you have never seen a movie like this before. You’ll laugh at how silly the story is and the characters in it. There isn’t a single person who thinks clearly in the movie which just adds upon the craziness of everything going on. For one night a tiny town in West Virgina gets turned into a disaster zone.

Notable Performances?

There are a few people who deserve a nod here but I’m going to say Topher Grace. As much as I loved watching Stewart perform, I really enjoyed his over zealous approach to the situation and cocky attitude. It was his insistence of being in charge and flipping the middle finger to his superiors that really made him a great antagonist.

Would I recommend it?

If Straight Outta Compton is still sold out, Hitman Agent 47 isn’t your cup of tea, or Sinister is too creepy for you, I’d say go check American Ultra this weekend. This film will entertain you for a variety of reasons, even if you don’t like the people who star in it.
