Star Trek Beyond (2016)

Star Trek Beyond had a lot of expectations to live up to and despite the intentions of many, is the weakest link in the trilogy. There was just something missing here. The overall story doesn’t draw you in and I feel they could have come up with a better villain. I love these movies and characters but even a pretty fun final act, I just don’t feel the same as I did compared to the first two.

  1. Really? The weakest in the trilogy?? I agree with you that the villain wasn’t very strong (I don’t even remember him much now that I think about it), and the ending was sort of a cheesy nod to Mars Attacks, but I wouldn’t call it the weakest of the three so far. The second movie was such a shameless rip off of Wrath of Khan that it was insulting to the fans! This is just my opinion of course, and I respect yours.

    • I agree with you about Into Darkness. I had to explain to my girlfriend about the Wrath of Khan after we watched it and how much of an impact it had on fans back then. Fast forward to today and I love Chris Pine as Captain Kirk. He brings a lot of energy to his character along with the whole cast. Maybe the 2013 has more crazy action sequences, which I love, so my heart says Into Darkness is by far the better film, Although I do love the Original Series and that gang, so I do know that the second film will always be something special to all fan old and new and respect that.
