The Visit (2015)

M. Night Shyamalan may have great ideas, most of the time, but really swings and misses with the Visit. What could have been a really awesome story turns into a rather lame attempt to scare us and make us frightened of old crazy people. Once the secret is out, the story really goes down hill and crashes at the end.

  1. Okay. I have to comment – this movie was FANTASTIC! It utilizes the one aspect of horror that many films are missing: the THRILLER. It always has you guessing. What is up with the grandparents? Is it a possession? Are they crazy? Horrors that focus on gore and demented violence miss the mark with being a true horror film, and I also love how this one uses a psychological suspense throughout because you truly never know what is going on until the absolute end. Plus the added comedy throughout is pure gold. I cannot support this rating because this was one horror movie I truly enjoyed.

    • Okay. I will reply – I totally respect your opinions on the movie. Maybe I expected something else based on his previous stories or maybe I just didn’t put much thought into the story/characters like you did. You present a lot of valid points that when I think back to the movie all make perfect sense. I will probably never watch the movie again, but if I do, I’ll think back to your comment and try to see the film from your perspective. 🙂

      • Thanks for taking my comment like you did! I love your opinions, but had to speak out about this one as it was one of my favorite plot twists. I’m currently writing a movie that involves a really mind bending plot twist so I had to defend this one 🙂

  2. I thought this film was very good. It was suitably creepy, had a decent twist and the ending worked well. The kids were annoying but then again, kids are annoying!
