The Birth of a Nation was exactly what you would expect from a movie about slavery. Violence is the main driving point of the story, which focuses on the very cruel physical and mental abuse of the times. There was supposed to be a biography, about Nate Turner’s life, yet once the rebellion started the main point of the story disappeared. I wish I could say this was a good movie about slavery, but when you’ve seen the award winners, it’s tough to follow in the genre.
