Lockout (2012)

I felt the idea behind Lockout was new and unique, except it’s been played a thousand times here on earth. If you’ve seen a bad guy get recruited to do good guy things before, then you won’t be surprised by this story except that it happens in space. There’s the subplot about a mysterious package/vital information that really bogs down the main story of a search and rescue mission. I bought this movie years ago and wonder why I still own it considering how bad it is.

  1. I gotta say I had fun with it. I felt it was clearly spoofing the macho bad boy tough guy movies that were once so popular. Definitely cheesy but (for me) in a good way.

    1. I have to be honest and say I have never viewed this film in the way you just described. That’s an interesting perspective that I never gave a thought to, I just viewed it as a lame action movie not as a spoof.

      1. And I may be wrong. I just thought the characters and especially the dialogue was so wildly over-the-top. If it is trying to be serious….well, it fails there.
