Maudie (2016)

Maudie is perhaps the greatest Canadian made film to date. Sally Hawkins deserves an award or two for her brilliant performance of a woman from Nova Scotia, who had skills with a brush and the biggest heart in the country. Not only do we get spoiled with Hawkins’ acting, we get an absolutely amazing character driven performance from Ethan Hawke. Ana cried throughout the entire movie because of how sensitive the subject material is, while I was amazed with how Maud never ever gave up on what made her happy. Ultimately this story focuses on the power of love and how it can bring two broken people together to be whole.
