47 Meters Down (2017)

8/10
At first glance, 47 Meters Down looks like a really bad shark/horror movie. Johannes Roberts gives us quite the opposite thanks to brilliant writing, scare tactics, and performances. Yes, one stupid decision after another leads to more complicated problems, but there is one scene with a flare that is so amazing you can’t help by gasp at the brilliance of the cinematography. There will be blood and lots of it as the sharks eat up numerous bodies, in a story that offers you two different perspectives of the ending. You have to take both with a grain of salt because one is actually so much better than the other. Either way at the end of this swim, you will be pleasantly happy with this short adventure to the depths of the ocean.
