The Hitman’s Bodyguard will the be the buddy comedy of the summer. If you love loads of violence, non-stop action, and the most vulgar jokes you can think of, then this movie will be for you! Yes, I am aware this is just another stereotype buddy comedy with two awesome actors, but trust me when I say you haven’t seen anything like this before.
Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson have amazing chemistry, which I would gladly pay to watch them act together in anything else. These two try their best to one up each other throughout the entire movie that it really gut busting laughs from start to finish. I personally think that even if you can’t handle everything they throw at you, you would actually appreciate the humour.
Salma Hayak is hilarious as the locked up wife of an international assassin, and really compliments the whole crazy theme of the movie. The stunts are outrageous as the bloodshed that gets splattered all over the place. This is the kind of story that gets played out time and time again, but I felt the writers got creative this time around and gave us an actual good vs. evil story worth caring for.
Gary Oldman is always fantastic as a bad guy. Reynolds and Jackson must do whatever they can to keep him locked up, which is ultimately the cause they are fighting for. I know the expectations for this film is really low among moviegoers and critics alike, but out of the two films this weekend (other being Logan Lucky), I am here to tell you this will be the better hit. You will not be disappointed if you head out this week to catch the Hitman’s Bodyguard, because it has my vote as the hands down best comedy of the summer.
