American Assassin is the perfect movie today’s society, but at the same time came out at the worse possible time. The opening sequence is so surreal, I’m surprised it made the final cut. Then again, untimely deaths are always motivation for revenge. What turned out to be a halfway decent idea for a story got watered down by the tired “US government tries to save world by finding nuclear bombs” plot. There was even a moment when I realized this movie had gone on too long and the story was dragging on. Dylan O’Brien shows his athletic acting abilities by pulling a James Bond kind of spy, while his boss Michael Keaton shows why he is one of the most versatile actors out there. Like I said earlier this movie, built on revenge, could have been something new, but fell to the same stereotype of the spy genre which kinda ruined everything. 3/10
