The Final Season (2007)

The Final Season follows the typical script you have come to know over the years when it comes to successful sports movies. A team faces a problem, they vow to overcome, do great out of the gate, stumble down the stretch, and recover in time to win it all. Based on the true story of a high school team from mid-west America, The Final Season had an amazing story to tell but lack the heart and emotion to keep me invested. I think this particular kind of story happens more often than we ever hear about, which made this movie the golden opportunity to showcase such struggles. The overall performances were just normal, there was no motivational speeches or enough angry parents to leave a lasting impression. Everyone really just accepted their fate and went down with barely any fight, while doing their best to close out the program with a championship. 4/10
