The LEGO movies work and don’t work at the same time. I like when these stories focus on just the characters and don’t include any human interaction. LEGO Batman is probably the best of the three films released so far because it was all about Batman, no one else. Ninjago was a fun story, but I don’t need Jackie Chan to tell me the story behind the characters. When Will Farrell came in at the end at the end of the LEGO movie, everything was ruined for me. Now I respect Jackie more than Will, so I didn’t mind the story telling but why can’t I just get a solid animated movie? The biggest thing I felt that didn’t work for this fun Star Wars kind of spoof was the fast paced animation. I can’t imagine the amount of time that went into these sequences, since there is so many moving parts that it is really hard to see what is actually happening. The story has plenty of jokes and some dark humor which didn’t make it a terrible day at the theater. 5/10
