The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg (1988)

The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg was a baseball movie I had on my watch list for many years, and what a disappointed this movie turned out to be. This isn’t actually a movie, it is a documentary. The format at which this was shot ruined the whole experience, or at least the one I had built up in my head. I never knew who Hank Greenberg was or what he accomplished. What I ended up learning was how important Hank was to the Jewish community and the early days of baseball. This guy was a legend on and off the field, which surprised me because I feel I know a lot about baseball history, even though my basis has and will be with New York Yankees history. But Hank was there among the elite of the day, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, and Joe DiMaggio. This documentary gave us an up close look into one of the finest gentlemen ever to play the game and the impact he left on those who admired him and his accomplishments. 5/10
