Summer Catch (2001)

Summer Catch fit perfectly into the teenage romantic comedies of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. The two leads, Freddie Prize, Jr. and Jessica Biel were already established actors by the time this movie hit theaters. This movie follows the anti-relationship script perfectly and instead of the guy being a loser, he’s a minor league pitcher who has the stuff but may never go anywhere. The rich family with the beautiful refuses to allow such a relationship, despite the potential he shows. Sadly if you’ve seen a love story like this before, then you have definitely seen them all, the only difference here is the baseball action is pretty good. Short on run time and packed with heart, Summer Catch may never pop up on anyone’s lists, but if you are a sucker for a romance like I am, and you love sports, then this is a pretty good gem. 7/10
