A League of Their Own (1992)

A League of Their Own is one of the best baseball movies of all-time, I know that because there’s no crying in film reviews. I honestly don’t know where to begin or how to really access this film. The characters are phenomenal. Each one brings their own unique personalities to the game and the story that everyone leaves an impression on you. The story itself is impressive, the boys are gone to World War II so instead of working the kitchen, these talented ladies hit the diamond and put on a show. I love almost everything about this movie, even with Tom Hanks stealing some thunder from the girls with his performance as washed up manager Jimmy Dugan. As an avid baseball fan, the action on and off the field is great and exciting. You won’t expect the twists and turns of the story, but remember this is a movie about a bunch of girls who are really competitive, which means there is bound to be some drama. The quality of the costumes and the setting bring you back to the 1940’s, where the rise and fall of the all girls professional baseball. 9/10
