Ten Stars or Less

10 Cloverfield Lane could really be viewed from two different perspectives. One is could be that there is a creepy guy who kidnaps people and holds them hostage. The other is there is a legit attack outside and this guy may be crazy, but he has provided a safe environment to survive. If this movie was actually filmed in 2016, I got to ask, where was the cable connection or radio signal. If these three people had access to those two basic lines of communication to the outside, pretty much all the problems or doubt would have gone away and we’d have a completely different story here. Now the lack of access is what makes the story so tense and interesting. Ana went to see this movie with her sister at the theatre, so I had a general idea of what was to come, so I wasn’t surprised. The only thing I got to say is Mary Elizabeth Winsted’s desire to escape was really her biggest problem and may have led to bigger problems. I thought she ended up making the wrong choice, but the pursuit is what the movie is all about. 5/10
