Robin Hood (2010)

Robin Hood is a living legend. The reason I say “living” is because every other decade there seems to be a movie that gets released featuring Robin and his merry man. This time around Ridley Scott takes a shot at bringing this classic folk tale to life…with an amazing cast. Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchette, Oscar Issac, William Hurt, and Mark Strong to name a few. I got to admit just looking at the cast makes this movie appealing, but then we look and realize it’s 2:20 long, you know there will a lot of good, bad, and ugly dragged out to fill run time. Why do these epic movies always have to be so long? The action happens in bunches and the storytelling is rather uneventful in between the battles. Maybe I expected too much from the stellar cast or the story (since I love the Disney version of Robin Hood and the legend of King Arthur). No matter what I thought though, Robin Hood 2010 had the opportunity to blow away all other movies and be serious contend for a major award, yet never lived up to anything. 5/10
