Amazingly I once listened to the audio book A Wrinkle in Time, about 13 years ago. I didn’t remember a thing because I thought it was very confusing, kinda like this movie. Off the top of my head I was very curious on why Oprah had to be the biggest character on the screen at all times? Is that an ego or contract thing? No matter what Chris Pine does the rest of his career, he’ll always be Captain Kirk to me. So having said that, when did Kirk get all domestic, have a wife and kids? You are probably wondering why I am mocking this movie when it could be your new favorite movie all-time. I literally had a hard time sitting through this movie. Nothing clicked or even made sense to me. How in the universe was he able to time jump, and be gone for like four hours his time and seven years our time. Why was his kids the only people to bring him back? Because they believe? This may be a kids book, which is why the whole concept may work, but as an adult with a great imagination, I just couldn’t get into this silliness. On top of a confusing story, the casting of this movie was a disaster. With the exception of Pine and Reese Witherspoon, I would never pay money to see Mindy Kaling or Zach Galifianakis in any movie ever. Their performances did nothing to make me give them a second chance. From my understanding there is supposed to be some deep message about the whole situation that I seemed to have missed or never understood to begin with. Maybe I am wrong with my assessment of the movie and it is really great, although I know I am not the only giving this film a low rating. Maybe I’m on the right side of a discussion for the first time, or perhaps I’m not. 2/10
