A Quiet Place (2018)

I got to be honest with all of you and say that A Quiet Place was probably my most anticipated movie of 2018. Starring one of Hollywood’s cutest couples ever, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, these two teamed up to fight some ugly-looking aliens. The only problem for these guys is the aliens only attacks sounds and Emily’s character is pregnant. This story is really a masterpiece. When one problem gets solved, that solution only creates a new problem and the cycle continues through out the whole movie. There are several layers to the entire story that starts on a random day in the future. Whether it is dealing with the aliens or family matters, there really isn’t a dull moment. The ending just happens, but fits the story and the characters very well. Audiences should be pleased with the direction at the end, even though I know some of you will leave disappointed. Just so you all know, this movie isn’t completely silence, there is plenty talking, just at the right moment to make you there is hope. It is tough to say why this wasn’t a perfect score. I liked so much of the movie, but something was missing for me. Maybe my expectations were way too high, maybe this movie is just good but not great. Maybe during the silence all I could hear in the theater was popcorn bags and people coughing. Maybe it was the fact the daughter (Millicent Simmonds) had the answers to their problem, but didn’t figure it out on time. Although it was perfectly written why she didn’t figure out, since it played a major part in the outcome of the story. Overall A Quiet Place was a great team effort of the minimal cast, who acted out an interesting story unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. This film is a must watch, whether it is in a theater or the comfort of your quiet house. 7/10
