The Prince of Egypt (1998)

Moses is one of the most important and heroic figures in the Bible. His story stretches over several hundred years, but his rise from the river bed basket where he was found to the splitting of the Red Sea is a major talking point in biblical history. Although his story is the opposite of rags to riches, since he was a prince who was called away to a high power to lead his power to a better life. This is a complex story that many adults have spent their entire lives researching and it, so it must be very vital to human history. Children will have a harder time understanding or appreciating the subject matter, so they can just sit back and take in the great animation and watch a hero be born. The Prince of Egypt doesn’t have to be a politically or religiously charged story, the focus really needs to be on educating kids , not pushing an agenda. The voice casting of this film is amazing, which includes Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Steve Martin, and Martin Short. Imagine trying to secure that much talent for an animated movie today. You’d be hard pressed to get that many people on board for a great animated movie. 7/10
