Bad Samaritan (2018)

It is no secret that I always end up loving random movies, and Bad Samaritan is now in that group. This thriller is one of the best movies I’ve seen in 2018. I seriously mean that. I don’t recall a movie off the top of my head that was so thrilling and intense that I couldn’t stay clam. David Tennant is brilliant as Cale Erendreich, a cold and calculation rich boy with a fetish of destroying people both physically and mentally. At first glance you’d think this guy is just a rich guy who couldn’t pull a trigger, but the deeper into the story we go, everything unravels and we get to see the dark side of his character. Sean Falco (Robert Sheehan) is almost like a Greek tragic figure. A young kid with a heart of gold, just falls into the wrong game and has his life turned upside down. His relentless pursue a kidnapped girl is honourable, considering he is willing to risk his life. The cat and mouse game never has a dull moment and gets very nerve-racking. I loved how the main focus of the story is Sean’s pursuit of the bad guy, but then there’s a new subplot developing involving the FBI that plays a major factor in the finale. If you are worried about the ending ruining a great build up, you’d be surprised to learn that it leaves you with feeling of satisfaction and makes the journey into the woods worth while. 9/10
