Every orphan dreams of finding their real family, even more so when this particular girl is a princess. Anastasia has a really sweet ending that makes the whole journey to get there worth the adventure. Despite unusual circumstances and intentions, a girl will find her prince who has a heart of gold but has never really caught the right break in life. Together these two will find their way home, to a place where there is nothing but love and joy to displace all the cruel and harsh realities of the world. Although this movie came out in 1997, the actors/actresses who bring these characters to life were already well established and were the drawing power for such a sweet story. Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Angela Lansbury, Hank Azaria, and Christopher Lloyd all had voice credits to their name, which was a plus when the ink met the screen in this surprisingly beautifully animated movie. 8/10
I haven’t seen it in years, but remember not liking it…which is how I felt about all Don Bluth films.
