Ten Stars or Less

I stumbled across Pirates! Band of Misfits many years ago and was blown away at how awesome this movie was! Since then I’ve seen it a couple of times and I still can’t stop laughing. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll buy this movie someday or just randomly enjoy it whenever I see it. Doing research about the movie I learnt there was a sequel planned and a poster designed but then the studios pulled the plug. That was disappointing to learn, since I would have totally paid money at the theater to watch Hugh Grant as Pirate Captain. He was a great choice to lead this rag-tag group of pirates to win the coveted Pirate of the Year Award. Along the way we are treated a fun history lesson (of sorts) with the introduction of Charles Darwin (David Tennant) into the pirate world. Despite flip-flopping his intentions, he manages to lead Pirate Captain and the gang from one mess to another, ticking off Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton). Despite all the inaccurate historical stuff, this movie is a blast that could be enjoyed by everyone, that is if you are a fan of the clay motion. 8/10
