Madagascar gave us many things. Characters we grow to love, voice actors we love to laugh with, and a crazy story about a bunch of misfits who go on the adventure of a lifetime. This franchise personally gave me The Penguins, Skipper, Rico, Private, and Kowalski, who are some of favorite animated characters of all-time. Although everything isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, somewhere out in the jungles of Africa is King Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen). He has got to be the worst and most annoying character ever created, and not only does he ruin the Penguins of Madagascar animated series, this guy his own show on Netflix! Argh. Back to the other lovable characters Marty (Chris Rock), Alex (Ben Stiller), Melman (David Schwimmer), and Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith). In attempt to see the real world outside of their cages, these four manage to get kidnapped and shipped off to Madagascar, where the cat is truly out of the bag. Laugh out loud as these guys who were pampered now have to fight each other to survive. Friendships will be broken and friendships will be born, as the native animals of the African continent try to make heads or tails of these misfits from New York. The way the film ends gives you a hope that these guys will make it back to New York with no problems, but there would never be a sequel or third movie without more hilarious hiccups. Madagascar may be 13 years old now, but there is something to say for the animation of the time period and thought process that went into the writing. All these animals may be from the wild, but once they became domesticated, it took a lot of imagination to see them back in their natural habitat. Even if you don’t think that Madagascar would be for you, there will be a character or two that you will like. 6/10
Not a fan of this film.
Like I mentioned, this film gave me the Penguins, which is only reason I can live with the franchise.
