Crawl was released to a 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I can testify that those numbers are accurate. This intense thriller is man against beast, time against the storm, all the classic clinches that make for good stories. Kaya Scodelario carries the story from start to finish thanks to her ability to act brave and scared at the same time. Her facial expressions and tears really hammer home how dire the situation is. It has been pointed out that there are some silly moments, like a human out swimming an alligator, but these CGI monsters are dangerous, and under stress, the human body can do extraordinary things. No matter what you believe, you’ll still be stressed beyond your wits as the odds of surviving to drown as the water rises. 8/10
