I missed Chappaquiddick on its original short-lived run at the theatre. However, it is on Netflix, and I finally watched it. To say I was blown away by the performances of everyone, including Jason Clarke as Senator Ted Kennedy, would be an understatement. This movie was pure gold. The events of 1969 shocked the Nation and ruined Kennedy’s future in politics. It prolonged the “Kennedy Curse” and showcased what power and money can secure for you. I loved how the story dug deep enough to cover all the essential information of the incident but hammered home the chaos of the Kennedy compound in the weeks afterward. I admired Clarke in this role more than any other one I’ve seen him in so far. As someone who respects the whole Kennedy family, I found this to be a must-see. 8/10
I liked it too but it seems to have been lost in the shuffle. More people need to see it.
A super underrated film!
