Black and Blue is another drama that centers corrupt cops covering tracks and dying in the process.
Police are hired to serve and protect…and line their pockets with the riches of the underground drug industry, the one they always claim to be fighting. Noami Harris’ character just happens to find herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and is now the most wanted person in New Orleans.
This movie breaks from the standard cop tracking cop storyline, thanks to its reliance on technology. Body cameras have become a staple of the police uniform, much like the bulletproof vest and gun. For the first time, to my knowledge, the body camera is a focal point of a story because of the criminal acts on it. The story is so much sophisticated than finding a cop, it’s about getting video footage before it gets in the wrong hands and ends up online.
One of the best things about this film is Frank Grillo plays the bad guy. His gritty appearance and arrogant attitude always impress in that kind of role. 6/10
