I was only nine years old when The Addams Family was released way back in 1991. As a kid, I loved this movie. It was funny, entertaining, weird, crazy, and made absolutely no sense. The film has a bucket list of flaws, but you know what… all these years later, I still love it!
What has grown on me the most is the performance of Raul Julia as Gomez Addams. He was a brilliant actor and the perfect choice to play the leader of the house. Often times, we debate if someone was destined to perform a specific role, and I think Julia was born to play an Addams. His animated reactions to everything around him are some of the best parts.
Christopher Llyod will be remembered for countless iconic roles, which will include Uncle Fester. Now, if you want to nitpick the movie, his storyline makes no sense whatsoever, but as a kid, you roll with it, and as an adult, you just shrug your shoulders. I could list things I love about all the characters, but this review would go on forever.
I never liked the Addams Family TV show because I was more fond of The Munsters. However, this particular cast will always be my favourite portrayal of the creepy family, no matter what they throw our way in the future. 8/10
