A long time ago, the Terminator movies came out once every decade. Now, with Dark Fate released in 2019, we have had three films in the last 10 years. As you can tell, today, they are rushing the storylines to the big screen
The two original franchise stars are back in this one. Linda Hamilton returns to play Sarah Connor while Arnold Schwarzenegger gives it another go as The Terminator. Their relationship has come full circle. Once bitter enemies, then friends, these two are at each other’s throats yet again. Well, that is after they spend over two hours trying to save the franchise’s new hero, Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes).
She’s the future John Connor, leader of the rebellion against the machines because Connor finally got terminated.
The franchise shifted everything we’ve ever known about it and gave us a new heroine to root for. I wasn’t a massive fan of this story’s direction, but I went along for the ride because there’s a lot of fighting and explosions.
MacKenzie Davis is the brand new, state of the art Terminator, who is more human than machine. Sent back to the past to protect Dani, these two may be the future of the franchise as the original characters begin to die off or retire from acting in real life.
I enjoyed the fast-paced action and the thrilling stunts but not confident in the overall direction of the franchise moving forward. This movie didn’t bomb at the box office, but it also wasn’t a major success. 5/10
Nice review! As for myself, I consider only the first two movies of the saga worth watching…
