In this second chapter, we find out that evil has returned to the kingdom, and she plans to kill Maleficent once and for all.
I’ve never been a massive fan of Angeline Jolie, but I do enjoy her work as Maleficent. She kinda seems perfect for the role, and I think the franchise wouldn’t be as successful if she weren’t the lead.
Since I barely remembered the first one, I was able to sit back and enjoy this fast-paced, entertaining movie. There is a lot of action, which features a lot of creature/fairy and human bloodshed.
The bad guys will get under your skin, so much so that you can’t wait for them to die. This is Disney after all, so I got to give the writers credit for building up so much hatred.
Mistress of Evil is another sequel we really didn’t need but succeeded in moving the story and characters along. It wouldn’t surprise me that we may get another one of these days someday, but until then, this ended with a cute bow to wrap up all the story angles up. 7/10
