Like a Boss (2020)

Like a Boss starred three superstar leading ladies, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, and Tiffany Haddish. It’s been no secret that I have a strong dislike for Haddish projects, which made me dread watching this movie.

What surprised me was Like a Boss wasn’t the absolute worse thing I’ve ever watched. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I enjoyed it, but I also didn’t spend the whole movie distracted on my phone.

Now, this movie was over the top, overly dramatic, and totally pointless. I think the only aspect of the story I appreciated was the bonds of friendships. The two main characters saw their unbreakable bond get destroyed, only to realized what it meant to them in the first place.

The supporting cast brought just as much flair and dramatics to the story that none of it could have worked without them.

Projects like this one serve as a reminder that somewhere in my mind is a book that I’d like to write someday. If this script can become a reality, then maybe my book can too. 2/10
