When the world finally comes to an end, there will be one debate that the cockroaches will still be talking about…is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not?
The debate centers around the events of the film, which take place at a Christmas party during the holiday season. Still, the movie is about a terrorist attack, so people don’t see the holiday spirit like they would in Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
We should face the facts though and admit this movie is a bigger hit during the holidays than any other time of year, so I think it is indeed a Christmas movie. Now that we have settled that, for the time being, let’s get back to the action of this movie.
There is much argument in my house because I always point to other movie flaws where the hero survives ridiculous situations. Yet I’ll always defend John McClaine, who has been through it all and still manages to limp away.
These feelings probably stem from the fact that I grew up with Die Hard and have a biased opinion of the matter. No matter what happens though, you just can’t kill John McClaine, he’s that much smarter than you. His heroics can be labelled as over the top, although his one-liners do more than make up for his shortcomings. At the end of the day, everyone should feel comfortable with him on the job because there isn’t a trick he’s not willing to use to kill the bad guys.
On one final note, Alan Rickman may always be linked to a different franchise for a much younger generation. Still, for the majority of moviegoers, he will always be remembered as Hans Gruber, the terrorist who fell 35 stories into film folklore. 9/10

By the way, it’s a great movie, and although you can’t kill MacLane, here he’s not an invincible super hero, and he looks for help, he has moments of weakness… To me it’s a flawless action movie!
